What more magical thread than the hair as a link between past and present, between reality and poetry, between fantasy and symbolism, between personal and universal? All eras, all civilizations, all religions have mixed hair and beliefs, hair and power, seduction and taboos, intimate and collective. But all this today takes on another dimension because women are claiming their hair as an integral part of their body, of which they now want to be sole mistresses. What was and remains for many of them an object of enslavement, becomes a banner of demand for the freedom of each and beyond of their people. text excerpt by Cécile Sportis

Laura Sánchez Filomeno, is a Franco-Peruvian visual artist. She holds a doctorate and Masters in Plastic Arts and Art Sciences from the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne. She also holds the D.N.S.E.P National Superior Diploma in Plastic Expression, Ecole Supérieure des Beaux-Arts du Mans in 2004. She is a multidisciplinary artist, who uses body residues and mainly hair as a base material, taking nature as a source of material and inspiration. In his work, different concepts intertwine like a weave, demonstrating his intention to explore questions that are both paradoxical and complementary, to see the two "sides of the mirror" such as that of attraction and repulsion, the sublime and the obscene, the sacred and the profane, which reflect the observation of a duality present in all his plastic research.
